Zeroto60Times.com spoke with the owner, Mr. Norris, and after a short conversation he not only permitted Zeroto60Times.com’s editors to photograph his awesome, black Audi R8, but insisted that he start it up for us. Before Mr. Norris fired up the fine-tuned, 420 horsepower V8 engine, he casually pointed out was that his 2008 Audi R8 is equipped with a one-of-a-kind carbon fiber kit on the exterior, interior and engine bay. We would imagine this kind of upgrade doesn’t come cheap on a new Audi R8 exotic car! Mr. Norris turned the key and the Audi R8 engine howled a deep, aggressive roar. We haven’t heard an engine that sounds exactly like his 08 Audi R8, but we would liken it to a newer Corvette Z06 with aftermarket exhaust.

Zeroto60Times.com’s editors agreed that the black on Audi R8 cars looks the best because this color blends with dark side blades, versus these side blades sort of oddly sticking out and distracting your eye from the overall design of the exotic car. This side blade is arguably the most controversial design element of the new Audi R8 supercar. It seems Audi aficionados either hate it or love it.

The LED headlights are a brilliant, unique component in the R8 cars, but unfortunely they are no longer the novelty they once were with the introduction of the new Audi S5 and Audi S4 sports cars. It will be interesting to see how Audi’s designers decide how to make the upcoming R8 sports cars stand apart from the rest of the “more inferior” Audi cars, since the Audi R8 headlights are no longer as distinctive. Perhaps the 2011 Audi R8 or the 2012 Audi R8 will stand apart from the rest of the Audi line by boasting even more shared components with the Lamborghini Gallardo exotic car than the 2008 R8 model has? We hope so!
