Premium Car Cover Review

carcovers.com review

Many car guys own car covers. Whether it’s to keep the dust off their sports car that they drive a couple times a month or to keep debris from their beloved beat up pickup outside. I had a car cover for a sedan I sold about 15 years ago, but unfortunately that cover was far from perfect. It was very difficult if not impossible for one person to setup and in just a few months of outside exposure it showed serious signs of deterioration. Although I didn’t have the best experience with my old car cover I also know that car cover technology has improved over time and not all car cover retailers are created equal. I’ve been itching to get another car cover for several years now and finally acquired one for my Jaguar XJR from carcovers.com. I wanted a car cover that would protect my pride and joy from scratches and dust when in the garage and from rain, debris and bird crap when parked outside.

There are many car cover merchants, but from what I could find, carcovers.com had the best reputation in terms of customer service and product quality. I opted for their top tier “Ultimate Shield” car cover because it guards against pretty much anything and everything that you would ever need a car cover to protect. For example it is totally waterproof, protects against UV light damage, reduces heat damage, protects from bird droppings, protects from the effects of acid rain, is rot and mildew resistant and includes a 7 year warranty to give me a bit of peace of mind. My car cover kit included a storage bag, an antenna kit (which I didn’t need), a locking cable kit, 3 microfiber towels and an instruction manual. Unlike my old car cover, the “Ultimate Shield” car cover was very easy to setup. The elastic material in the front and rear enabled me to do the setup by myself, even in relatively high winds. I thought the car cover fit well – not too tight and not too loose. The security kit can also tighten the fit of the car cover as well as a “gust strap” that can also be purchased. The fleece interior of the car cover feels nice and soft as would be expected and should be totally scratch free. Overall, I am happy with my Jaguar XJR car cover so far.  Make sure to post a comment below and tell us your experience with car covers.  The product can be found at the following URL in case you are interested:  http://www.carcovers.com/covers/cars/jaguar/xjr/2005/ultimate-shield-car-cover.html

Introducing the Fastest Remote Control Car in the World

Traxxas XO-1 Car Review

Let’s face it, millions of guys like us dream of one day owning an insanely fast exotic supercar one day. Unfortunately, most of us will never be able to afford one…and so we must resort to fantasizing about the prospect as we flip through the latest issue of the Dupont Registry.  Some of us dream about starting a lucrative business, becoming a successful entertainer or pro athlete, becoming a Sir James Dyson level of inventor or simply striking it rich from a massive lottery jackpot.

One answer for the uncompromising with a strong desire to own an exotic sports car without the option of forking over $300,000 or more is to shrink their exotic car dream exactly 1/7th.  The Traxxas XO-1 may not being an actual passenger hauling supercar, but if you can settle for a cutting-edge remote control car instead, then you should be quite pleased. The Traxxas XO-1 is a pretty amazing engineering feat. If it were a production car it would easily be one of the top 5 quickest production cars in the world with an impressive 0-60 mph of 2.3 seconds. Beyond this, the remote control supercar blasts from 0-100 mph in merely 4.92 seconds! Traxxas claims that the XO-1 is the fastest remote control car ever offered for sale and with its astonishing fast specs, we don’t doubt it. Aside from the performance specs, perhaps one of the coolest attributes of the Traxxas XO-1 remote control car is the ability to dock your Apple device, such as an iPhone, to its remote control base. This enables you to intuitively customize and tune the car to your specifications via a colorful multi-screen display on your device.

The only negative that we can think of concerning this sweet remote car is the fact that it requires a rather high degree of skill to operate, thus alienating newbie’s like me until I increase my remote control car driving skills.  Although if I’m shelling out of a thousand bucks plus for a single remote control car, then I darn well better know how to drive it well.

Interesting and Funny Garage Door Murals

Lamborghini Diablo Garage Door Mural

Can’t afford to make your friends and neighbors jealous with a new Maserati, classic red Corvette, new yellow Lamborghini or perhaps a ski boat? No problem! Now you can simply slap on an adhesive photo cover to your garage door(s) to create a deceptively realistic garage mural.  If you’re still not convinced that this will make your neighbors jealous then you may want to opt for an Indy Car, private jet or even a pallet of gold bars.  Some of the garage door murals should probably not be installed on garages that face busy streets since it will certainly cause motorists to take a very confused and sometimes alarmed double-take. For instance, motorists can gaze upon a military tank pointed outward or a large dump truck wedged into the garage sideways.  If you can’t find a design you like then you can evidently send this website any digital image to place on your garage door. Post a comment and voice your opinion of these interesting and funny garage door murals.

Review of the DJ Grilles Predator Camaro Grille from CARiD

Custom Camaro Grille

CARiD Releases Camaro Predator Grille with DAC Technology

Chevrolet’s Camaro has always been America’s sweetheart, and when GM introduced the new 5th generation Camaro in 2010, it was an instant hit, both critically and in dealer showrooms. California-based DJ Grilles has just introduced a stunning new front grille treatment that dramatically transforms the Camaro’s front facade, giving it a much more compelling high-tech look. Replacing the original plastic egg-crate grille, the black stainless mesh substrate accentuates the 304 stainless surround that hoods the headlights. It’s a real eye-turner.

A sinister D-shaped 30”-long opening, deliberately left free of the protective mesh, is mirrored by a similar opening in the lower grille. Those openings are more than just a styling—they’re the key to the Predator’s potential to unleash the Chevy Camaro’s power.

For access to the headlights or just for a different look, there’s a pair of easily-removable headlight doors. The doors are held shut with a single race-inspired quarter-turn fastener, making removing or installing them a tool-free operation that will take less than a minute. A key chain-perfect removal and installation tool is included—and that tool also functions as a bottle opener. For the discriminating buyer, there’s even the option of custom-matching the color of the trim to your car’s paint scheme or wheel accent color, including not only bright chrome, brushed chrome, bright satin or, or course, your custom paint color. The open area below the mesh grilles funnels cool air directly from the high-pressure area in front of the car into the radiator, lowering cooling system and under hood temperatures substantially.

But that’s only part of the huge contribution to performance you can realize by installing the Predator DAC System.

Once the original plastic factory egg-crate grilles have been removed and the Predator Grille is in place, you can install the Phase II Falcon Ram Intake system.

The Falcon Ram Air System’s molded plastic ducting replaces the restrictiveair cleaner and duct-work with a cold-air tunnel that routes over the top of the radiator and into a unique low-restriction air cleaner. From there it goes directly into the throttle body, dramatically increasing power and response. DJ Grilles reports 20-30 more horsepower and 22-35 ft.-lbs. of torque with no other changes to your car. If you’re willing to re-tune the ECM to handle the huge increase in inlet air, you can expect 25-35 more hp. and 35-45 more ft.-lbs.

How can they do that? It’s simple: the stock air intake breathes hot air from inside the engine compartment, which starves the engine of oxygen and makes it run hotter. Cold air, like the air fed directly into the intake by the Falcon duct-work, is denser than the same volume of hot air, and that means more oxygen to burn inside the engine. But it just gets better: because the air intake is situated in a high-pressure zone, as the vehicle picks up speed, more and more cool outside air is forced into the engine. This means faster your Chevrolet Camaro goes, the more your performance will improve.
