Beautiful Yellow 1970 Buick GSX Muscle Car

Check out this frame-off restored Saturn Yellow 1970 GSX Stage 1 which has won so many awards recently that you might need an extra trailer to haul them around. Nothing was left untouched as this GSX was given a professional, frame-off rotisserie restoration. Every weld and gap is exceptional, giving this bold and luxurious Buick the ability to win major points from any judge in any organization. Step back and admire the consistency of the yellow paint across every panel. Close the door to hear the confident thud that gave Buick a reputation for rock solid cars. Take a moment to follow the GSX side stripe as it flows to the back of the car and lines up perfectly with the centered GSX spoiler decal. The first thing a judge will notice when he walks up to this car is a sense of craftsmanship in the details. The pristine red and white GSX decals and red pin stripping combine with the Saturn Yellow and black paint to really set the car off. New chrome bumpers, door handles and window trim add the substance and class expected from a Buick. The factory hood mounted tachometer completes the look and acts as a nice conversation piece. Original equipment red, white and blue Buick tri-shield center caps adorn Buick GSX specific chrome trimmed 15 inch Rallye wheels. Completing the look are reproduction Super Wide Oval tires just like the tires the car left the factory with. Under the hood of this GSX resides a concours restored correct date coded 455 with the Stage 1 performance option. When up-fitted from the factory with the Stage 1 performance package, the 455 benefitted from a hotter cam, bigger valves, low restriction exhaust and revised jets in the Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor. Buick claimed that the car made 360 horsepower, but testing showed that it actually produced around 425hp. This GSX has no difficulty putting the power to the ground as it comes equipped with the optional Rallye Ride Control Package. Rallye Ride Control features a rear stabilizer bar, firmer front and rear shocks, rear firm ride springs and rear lower control arm assemblies. Factory power assisted front disc and rear drum brakes and variable ratio power steering keep everything under control. Backing that 455 is a numbers matching, concours restored GM TH400 3 Speed automatic. That hydramatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels through a numbers matching Posi-Traction rear end with 3.42 gears and a Buick high performance axle. On the inside high quality vinyl seats and door panels are highlighted by perfect red GS emblems and chrome trim. Optional custom front and rear seatbelts with custom front shoulder belts and a full length console add to the already impressive design. A factory optioned Rallye steering wheel serves as the focal point and looks right at home in front of the upgraded GSX dash. Featured in that dash is a factory option chrome trimmed gauge and clock package and the correct Sonomatic AM radio. The sell includes a CD of pictures documenting the frame-off concours rotisserie restoration of the car at Then and Now Automotive. It also includes documentation from the GSX Historic Society showing this car to be GSX number 543 of 678 produced for 1970 and one of only 213 cars to include the TH400 transmission. Included documentation from the Sloan Registry features percentages of vehicles registered by state and year as well as options sheet break downs, factory correspondence and marketing material. Awards include a 2010 concours gold plaque from the GS Nationals, a 2010 concours gold plaque from the Buick Performance Group Nationals and a Best of Show plaque from South East Rods and Customs. There are nice cars and there are rare and significant cars which define an era. The GSX is one of those cars and one of the most significant Buicks ever produced. Fully documented and a national show winner; this GSX is the right example for any serious Buick collector.
