Drag racing is perhaps the most fundamental form of car racing and also likely the most popular. Legal drag races at race tracks usually involve an eighth mile or quarter mile track in which two drivers attempt to beat their opponent across the finish line in their cars. Acceleration is key for this form of auto racing. By and large drag race cars are based on production cars; however there are some drag cars such as top fuel dragsters which do not rely on production car architecture.
