1987 Ferrari Testarossa Spider Rat-Rod Driving Review

This is a real, numbers-matching, 1987 Ferrari Testarossa. It is powered by its original 390-horsepower, 4.9L Engine and 5-speed dogleg gearbox. At some point, at least 20 years ago, someone decided to cut the roof off it and turn it into a Spider. They did not do a very good job, and as far as we know, the project was never finished. The current owner, Scott Chivers, bought the shell, engine, transmission, and “a huge crate of parts,” for a pittance, shipped the whole thing from East LA to England, and rebuilt it in his garage using only hand tools and without a shop manual. The goal was to make the car mechanically sound, while keeping the aesthetics good and trashed. What he has created may be the ultimate pub-going, city-dwelling Ferrari. Fast car slow has never been so good.
