World Famous Ferris Bueller’s Ferrari headed to Auction

Ferris Buellers Car

The world famous Ferris Bueller’s Ferrari is headed for the auction block in Monterey, California this August 17th. Even though the actual movie car is a mere Ferrari replica (based on the classic 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Spyder), it’s already drawing a lot of attention. In other words, this epic movie car is expected to reach a stratospheric price at auction, so if your wallet is as wide as the Grand Canyon then this iconic movie car can be yours. The Ferrari in Ferris Bueller’s Day off is undoubtedly one of the greatest movie cars of all time. The sexy red convertible plays an important role in this 80’s summer flick and ranks up there with the Aston Martin DB5 (007 film series), DeLorean DMC12 (Back to the Future trilogy), Audi R8 (Iron Man trilogy), 1977 Pontiac Trans Am (Smokey and the Bandit trilogy) and the 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback (Bullitt).

Three of these replica Ferraris were produced in the mid 80’s by Modena Design and Development. One of the other replica cars was sold at auction in 2010 and the third was damaged in the infamous jump scene and is evidently now on display at the Hard Rock Café in Cancun, Mexico. If you can’t afford to purchase the Ferris Bueller movie car then you may want to consider watching the auction in person. Admission to the Mecum auction is free to the public.
